Listening for
NATURE'S
VOICE

Here's a wild idea!
There is intelligence inherent in the natural living world that can support us in our own lives
and help us address the big issues of our time around environment, ecology & climate.

What if you could imagine being able to speak with another lifeform.
A bird, bee, badger or beetle? A river, ocean, tree or flower? What might they say?

Yes, sure, they would tell us what a royal mess we are making of things. Yet, beyond that, what message
could we imagine they might offer in support for our own lives & to help us humans make the necessary
changes to ensure the survival of all life on this earth?

The Interspecies Council provides a creative & potent framework to facilitate a deeper dive into this enquiry,
& to harness our creativity and active imagination to connect with the intelligence inherent in the natural living world.

Really?

No matter your belief system, whether you are religious or not, whether you are
a scientist, lawyer, business-person, government official, parent, teacher, we all have the
gift of imagination.

Helps us to connect with wisdom & guidance from the wider web
of life, gain support from Nature herself & bring the voices of
more-than-human lifeforms stakeholders to the table

Resources & Empowers us to
Advocate for Nature with agency & powerful authority
Be Ambassadors for the more-than-human world
Speak out for change with sparkling clarity

There is genius going around us in nature in every
moment, in the vast interconnected web of life.
Nature becomes a vast resource of intelligence if we
could widen our scope & shift our focus a little & move
from a human-centric to a more eco-centric view.

We can then become more empathic to Nature and
open to Nature's Voice in an embodied, viceral way.

This empowers us to Advocate for Nature - for the
Rights of Nature - with more powerful Authority.

Giving voice to other lifeforms can create more
inclusive & equitable approaches to environmental
decision making
And resources us to call out & address economic
& political interests that drive ecological destruction

The modern world is catching up with what indigenous folk around the world already know
- there is an intelligence, sentience even, in Nature and in the more-than-human world.

There is a growing global movement, calling for establishment
of Ecocide Law and the Legal Rights of Nature

In this wonderful work there is a tendency to come from the place of
intellect - of pragmatism - though heart-felt concern is of course present.

Yet, where are the voices of the more-than-human stakeholders?

What if we were able to imagine a different way that is more embodied & visceral
that allows us to gain support and solution from the intelligence inherent nature itself?

Interspecies Counsels can help us do just that!

Provide a framework for our active imagination and creativity to
connect with the intelligence inherent in Nature.

Imagine we could consult with the very natural feature, lifeform,
environment or landscape we are trying to protect and advocate for.
Bring a fundamental shift in how we see ourselves in relation to Nature and ecological damage, how we see & interact with the natural world & what we do to protect it.

Informed by the work of Systems Theory Scholar, Joanna Macy, these
Counsels are powerful and emotive vehicles for effective change.
Facilitate a return to nurturing, honouring relationship with
Nature based in reciprocity and ambassadorship.
Interspecies Councils are facilitated sessions, run by TreeWise, that offer opportunities for participants to consult more-than-human species and lifeforms and bring the voices of these otherwise unheard stakeholders.
These Councils are useful for
